Cost Effective Model
In the 2010-2011 school year, the Communities In Schools network in North Carolina had almost 11,000 volunteers who donated more than 225,000 hours of volunteer work at a value of $4.8 million. In addition, 3,228 community partners provided services throughout the network, and we received in-kind donations valued at more than $5.1 million.
When it’s all said and done, for every dollar the General Assembly invests in Communities In Schools of North Carolina, we leverage more than $15 in cash, goods and services. Especially in these tough economic times, it’s important to know how to stretch a dollar. As a result of our efficient and cost-effective model, we can support one CIS student for an entire year for only $203.
