Linda Harrill Awarded 2011 Business Leader Women Extraordinaire Award

December 12, 2011

Linda R. Harrill, President and CEO of Communities In Schools of North Carolina (CISNC), was awarded one of Business Leader Magazine’s 2011 Women Extraordinaire Awards Tuesday, December 6, at the Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh.

Each year, Business Leader honors the top women business leaders of the South through their Women Extraordinaire Awards. Winners are pulled from an astute pool of C-level executives, business owners or civic/community leaders in their regions. These women have demonstrated significant business achievement and community involvement. A candidate specifically has to be actively involved in the professional organization, actively involved in her community by utilizing her skills and/or time to promote philanthropic organizations or causes, and must be a recognized mentor and example to other women in her industry. More than 1,700 nominations were submitted for this year’s awards.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Harrill.  “Any success I have experienced I can attribute to having had great mentors who encouraged me, shared their wisdom with me and provided guidance. I also think there is no substitute for working hard.  To be successful you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish your goals and you should never ask someone else to do what you are not willing to do yourself,” she added.
