May 2012 Newsletter from CISNC
May 11, 2012
Click here to subscribe to the CISNC Monthly Newsletter. Communities In Schools of North Carolina (CISNC) wishes to thank all of our Executive Directors who participated in our E.D. Retreat in early May. CISNC thoroughly enjoyed hosting all of you at the N.C. Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT), a beautiful retreat facility nestled in the mountains of Cullowhee, NC. Entitled "Built to Lead—Built to Last: Sustaining Yourself through Challenging Times," the retreat offered topics and experiences that would rejuvenate and keep our E.D.s' passion going despite the many challenges they have had this year. We hope you enjoyed a wonderful experience—we sure did! As an opener to the retreat, the national office of Communities In Schools kindly coordinated a welcome address by CIS Founder Bill Milliken. Please take a moment to watch it if you have not yet seen it. With gratitude and appreciation for Bill Milliken’s 50-plus-year history of service to young people, the Communities In Schools National Board of Directors recently announced that on May 1, Bill will transition from his role as a Communities In Schools staff member to a broader leadership role in the nonprofit sector, while continuing to serve Communities In Schools as Founder and Vice Chairman of the Board. Bill will be providing guidance to the Jefferson Awards, Leadership Foundations, PathNorth and many other leading nonprofits, including, most importantly, Communities in Schools. He will also be touring and speaking extensively as he promotes his deeply personal memoir of service to young people, From the Rearview Mirror, which will be released in June. He will also continue to serve as a speaker and resource for the entire Communities In Schools Network. We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter. -
