Service-Learning Regional Training- Raleigh
Date: 05/18/2012
The Walnut Creek Wetland Center opened in September of 2009. Our core mission is to make people aware of the importance of wetlands, wildlife habitat, hydrology, and human interactions with the natural environment. Scheduled programs are offered to all ages and the lobby is open free of charge to the public. The "green" built facility is within a 59 acre park bordered by State Street, Peterson Street and Garner Road in Southeast Raleigh. This unique location is within a short distance of downtown but, because it is a portion of the Walnut Creek floodplain, it provides ample habitat for a wide variety of plants. Neuse RIVERKEEPER® Foundation protects, restores and preserves the Neuse River basin through education, advocacy and enforcement, in order to provide clean water for drinking, recreation and enjoyment to the communities that it serves. One way that the Neuse RIVERKEEPER® Foundation wants to achieve our mission is through the education of local youth and the Earth Force curriculum provides us with that opportunity. The event will take place May 18th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and May 19th from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Walnut Creek Wetland, 950 Peterson Street, Raleigh, NC 27610. To register click here.
