Job Description
Program: Project POWER/AmeriCorps
Position Title: Director, Project POWER/AmeriCorps program
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, some nights, weekends and overnights
Reports To: Executive Director
Salary: $40,000s - $50,000s
Office Location: Administrative Offices; 50 S. French Broad Office, Asheville, NC
Benefits: Full
Overall Responsibility
A full-time program director is needed to manage the AmeriCorps grant and to serve as the main source of contact with the NC Commission. In addition to managing the program, the fulltime program director needs to be the liaison between members, site(s) and site supervisors, constituents, and stakeholders. The program director also communicates with the Commission and implements new program requirements for Children First/CIS, the AmeriCorps program and other stakeholders.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Program management and development:
- Overall management of AmeriCorps grant and program
- Supervise AmeriCorps Program Staff and Members
- Develop and manage community partnerships
- Develop sustainability efforts and manage public relations for program in partnership with the Director of Engagement
Member recruitment, training, and retention:
- Develop and manage member recruitment and retention
- Develop initial orientation for training and development of members
- Manage ongoing training for members
- Facilitate team development and cohesion through activities and retreats
- Supervise members on-site and consult members one-on-one throughout year
Grant administration:
- Ensure AmeriCorps provisions are met by AmeriCorps members and sites
- Ensure grant objectives are met through evaluation and assessment
- Develop quarterly progress reports for State Commission
Staff Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with the Executive Director
- Provide all paperwork and reports needed to Children First/CIS
- Attend and participate in all CF/CIS staff functions including staff meetings

Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human/social services/education or related field
- Minimum of 3 years non-profit/education experience
- Computer literate with experience in data management
- Experience in
- effective supervision of staff
- planning and implementation of programs for children and families
- grant writing
- budget preparation/management and financial planning experience
- volunteer training and orientation
- community collaboration
- Previous AmeriCorps experience preferred
